It is difficult to understand what the Brooklyn Superbas were thinking when they agreed to send multiple quality prospects to the New York Highlanders in exchange for a middle of the bullpen arm. Specifically, Brooklyn sent closer Gene Wright (former #47 ranked prospect), reliever Dike Varney (#82 ranked prospect), and catcher Fred Abbott (#80 ranked prospect) to New York in return for reliever Cy Swaim.
