2305 Sole Survivor Series - Games 1 and 2 at University Point
Game 1: Nordhagen Beach 3 at University Point 7
Home Field Advantage: Cherry, University Point Open Sole Survivor Series with Win
The University Point Deathclaws started the Sole Survivor Series in style today, downing the visiting Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Gwinnett Brewery Park by a score of 7-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Deathclaws catcher Shawn Cherry was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
In the bottom of the first, University Point first baseman Barker Cocoa had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Cocoa stroked a 2-run home run to right. It made the score 2-0, University Point. For the game, he went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We played hard and won," said Cherry. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park in Boston.
Game 2: Nordhagen Beach 8 at University Point 2
Cuttooth, Party Boys Wallop Deathclaws in Game 2 of SSS
Nordhagen Beach third baseman Burtie Cuttooth was the difference-maker for the Party Boys in what turned into a shootout with the University Point Deathclaws. Cuttooth earned accolades after going 3-for-5 in the 8-2 Party Boys win. With the victory, the Party Boys moved into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Michael Fogcrawler? The Nordhagen Beach left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Party Boys on top, 3-0. For the game, Fogcrawler had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Cuttooth. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 15th , 2305 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop.
Quincy Gunners Update Uniforms
The Quincy Gunners are going to be in new uniforms in 2306 with a cleaner, more updated look. Long-time Gunners 3B Ben Pettinato and SP Manny McDuff modeled the home and away combinations.
