Cy Young (9-13) picked up the win, allowing 4 earned runs (3 earned) on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batsman; Game Score 56. Watty Lee (14-12) was tagged with the loss after permitting 9 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 28. Win Kellum was called in to cover the final 1 1/3 innings of play in which he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits.
Not only was he the game's winning pitcher, Cy Young had a fine day at the plate as he went 3 for 4 with a Triple and 2 RBIs. Fred Clarke (2 for 5, Double, Run, 2 RBIs), Chick Stahl (2 for 5, Double, Run, RBI), and Dave Brain (2 for 4, Homerun, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs) played great. Watty Lee (2 for 2, Double, RBI, Walk), Lew Dill (1 for 2, Triple, 2 Runs, Walk, Stolen Base), and Ed Delahanty (2 for 4, Triple, Run) played well in the loss.
