I was going to wait till 1936 to start my hall of fame.
I wanted to have veteran committee vote for players that retired 25 years
before the current election.
I was going to try and follow the mlb vet selection numbers.
Then i thought i would just elect 2 vets each year.
I thought i would run the hof selection each year in a backup copy
to get the players.
Then i would add their hall of fame metrics and just average them to get the 2 players that would join
the hall of fame players voted in for the current year.
But i realized i would have to put in the nominated players who had yet to make the hall for each new year.
seemed like it would be too much work.
So i decided to start the hall in 1912 to give 19th century players a better chance.
I set the wait for 10 and service years to 5.
I will switch those in the 1935 vote.
The reason im doing it this way is to give players like Ross Barnes a shot at the hall.
Barnes only played 8 years and only had 841 hits.
But he batted .332, won 4 mvps, 2 gold gloves, 6 silver slugger awards and played on 5 championship teams.
For his time he was one of the best players
I doubt if he will get in.
Anyway here is the 1912 Hall of Fame selection.
The ballots are counted and the results are in.
This year we will witness six players added to the Hall of Fame.
Billy Hamilton, John Clarkson, Tony Mullane, Tim Keefe, Mickey Welch,
and Old Hoss Radbourn received the ultimate honor this year in being voted as the newest members of the Hall of Fame.
