Eclipse League

With the exception of the struggling 7-18 Black Yankees, the 1983 Eclipse League season sees things pretty close heading into May.

The Elite Giants start red-hot, winning their first 7 games before cooling off but they still lead narrowly in the FC American. Terrible news for the Monarchs as they lose superstar Fernando Tatis jr for the year to a PCL tear, and his absence is already telling with them sitting mid-standings and barely above 500.

The WC National once again looks anyone's race, while in the WC National the American Giants take advantage of the MoStars stumbling out of the blocks to sit in first place. After a brief stay in the WCN cellar, Detroit has found some form and now sit at 14-12 and just two off the pace.

It's fascinating to see the transition ShoTime has made in the twilight of his career; while he's still being used as a pitcher and doing OK, he has clearly lost a bit of zip and seems more focused now on his offensive output, which so far this year has been outstanding - a 356/411/552 slash line with 4 homers and 15 RBI.
