Naps Lose to Athletics, 7-2
The home crowd had a good time watching the Cleveland Naps and Philadelphia Athletics get after it.
Starting pitcher Eddie Plank was a major factor in the 7-2 Philadelphia Athletics triumph over the Cleveland Naps. Plank went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 12 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 17-16.
Jack Barry dealt the Naps a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with the bases loaded and Philadelphia leading 1-0, Barry hit a full count changeup for a 2-run single.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Barry.
The victory gives Philadelphia a record of 93-62.
