Raucous Fenway Park Crowd Propels Red Sox to 3-1 Victory; Series Tied at 1
Behind a bravura effort from starter Hugh Bedient, the Boston Red Sox topped the New York Giants by the score of 3-1 today and got their first win in the 1913 World Series. Bedient threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the Red Sox. The win moves Boston into a 1-1 tie with New York.

New York Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in WS
The New York Giants got a strong performance from pitcher Jeff Tesreau, who stymied the visiting Boston Red Sox en route to a win, 5-2, in Game 3 of the World Series today. The Red Sox could never get a bead on the right-handed Tesreau, who threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The Giants now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Tesreau had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the seventh for the Giants. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and New York trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single.
"Feels good to get the job done," Tesreau said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Polo Grounds in New York.

Boston Red Sox Take World Series
With a 10-2 win over the New York Giants tonight at Fenway Park, the Boston Red Sox wrapped up their 2nd title in team history.
Boston left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Red Sox celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Boston manager Bill Carrigan. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as Boston celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.
"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Boston Red Sox," the mayor said.
The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the American League and a 101-53 record.
