Go to Reports And Info --> Free Agents --> Actions ---> Import Historic Player(s) ---> (pick a database here) ---> then either type in the box the player's Baseball Reference ID (for instance, Joe DiMaggio 1939 would be dimagjo01,1939,) or select a text file with multiple such player IDs, and make sure the various settings (real vs. neutralized stats, adjust hitters, adjust pitchers, etc.) are the way you want them.
