I did roll a supermax event (rare roll of 4 1's), but I tipped the scales a bit and assigned that roll to Goodneighbor. Therefore, there was a roll, but Goodneighbor was not necessarily going to be the team. There is a second supermax event coming this season, and I know which team that has to be, also, to fit my timeline events.
About Goodneighbor, they had quite a few negative events over the years. For one, they had among the worst early luck for OOTP-generated ratings losses. 1B Bryan Assman, who was the best player by far in the early rendition of the CBO, went from 80 to 69 to 47 in two seasons, from the best player to on the verge of being in the minors. I had to intervene by trading him away and readjusting his ratings to be a decent player. He's now with Sunshine Tidings.
There were also multiple OOTP-generated trades that were uneven by far. They traded away some decent players for older players about to retire or suffer serious ratings drops due to age.
So, where has that left them? Well, they are the only CBO team to have zero players in the green or blue for current ratings. Their entire pitching staff coming into the season was made up of 20 overall pitchers. I intervened and helped them to get a few players that are not important but who could help them win a game here and there.
Here is the team's current ratings:
They also have not built up their minors to have a good core of players coming up like some of the other bottom-finishing teams have done.
In summary, this team was a mess and mismanaged worse than the Las Vegas A's were managed like the Cleveland Indians in
Major League. It has made me think that I need to more closely analyze some of the trades and monitor ratings drops for teams. In fact, I am thinking of adjusting the Talent Change Randomness to prevent some of the massive ratings changes. There are so many possibilities of missing time because of dice rolls, I may want to normalize Talent Change Randomness. I haven't fully decided yet. However, I am finding myself becoming attached to some of the players who have been stars for several years, so I don't want to see them fall off. If any of those players drop off before 30, I feel they were cheated. And I am a sad god.
