1901-1902 offseason news

-The first spring training games will officially start on March 27th, 1902 and will last for three weeks. Opening day will be on April 17th, 1902.
-Starting pitchers John Clarkson, Pud Galvin, Tim Keefe, Bobby Mathews, Tony Mullane, Charley Radbourn, John Ward, and Mickey Welch and first baseman Dan Brouthers were inducted into the first class of the baseball Hall of Fame on January 22nd, 1902.
-The Chicago Orphans traded 34-year-old 2B Cupid Childs to the Chicago White Sox, getting 39-year-old CF Dummy Hoy in return.
-The Detroit Tigers traded 28-year-old 1B Pop Dillon to the Washington Senators, getting 33-year-old Ca Boileryard Clarke in return.
-The Chicago White Sox traded 27-year-old Ca Billy Sullivan and 23-year-old RP Fred Mitchell to the St. Louis Cardinals, getting 26-year-old SP Bill Magee in return.
