Game 137: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans
The previous game pitching rotation change was also done in part in hopes of getting Jesse Tannehill to the 20-game victory mark for the season. Tannehill got his chance today, but things didn't turn out well for him as the Chicago White Sox (60-77) topped the Boston Americans (72-65) by a score of 6 to 4.
Charles "Chief" Bender (17-18) pitched a solid game to pick up the victory; allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits, 2 walks, and a wild pitch; Game Score 56. Jesse Tannehill (19-15) was burdened with the loss after permitting 6 runs ( 5 earned) on 9 hits, 3 walks, and 2 hit batsmen; Game Score 45.
The star hitter of the day for the White Sox was Charles Frisbee, who went 4 for 5 (2 Doubles) with a Run, an RBI, and a Stolen Base. Mike Grady (1 for 3, Triple, Run, RBI) and Joe Connor (1 for 4, Double, Run, RBI) also played well in the win. For the Americans, Homer Smoot (1 for 3, run, RBI, 2 Walks, Stolen Base), Dave Brain (3 for 4, Double, Triple, 2 Runs), and Fred Clarke (2 for 5, Triple, Run) hit the ball well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Charlie Frisbee
