Trades, awards for July, and standings at the start of August 1905
-The St. Louis Browns traded 24-year-old SHS George McBride and 24-year-old RP Wish Egan to the Boston Beaneaters, getting 33-year-old SP Togie Pittinger in return.
Awards for July:
RF Zaza Harvey of the Chicago White Sox wins the AL Batter of the Month Award with 0 home runs, 12 RBIs, and 16 runs scored.
1B Charlie Hickman of the New York Giants wins the NL Batter of the Month Award with 1 home run, 15 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.
SP Lefty Leifield of the Detroit Tigers wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-1 record and a 1.37 ERA.
SP Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-2 record and 2.03 ERA.
SP Lefty Leifield of the Detroit Tigers wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award with a 6-1 record and a 2.02 ERA (for the season).
SP Jim Buchanan of the Brooklyn Superbas wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award with a 5-2 record and a 1.86 ERA.
In the AL, the New York Highlanders and Philadelphia Athletics are tied for first (despite the Athletics losing 2B Nap Lajole for 3 months due to injury), while, in the NL, the New York Giants have a one-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place.
