Trades, awards for July, and baseball standings at the start of August 1912

Trades before the trading deadline:
-The Philadelphia Athletics traded 31-year-old RP Ed Hughes and 24-year-old SHS Tommy McMillan to the Brooklyn Dodgers, getting 32-year-old SS Mickey Doolin in return.
-The Philadelphia Phillies traded 35-year-old SP Tex Neuer to the Philadelphia Athletics, getting 21-year-old RP Sherry Smith and 24-year-old RP Bugs Reisigl in return.
-The Chicago White Sox traded 29-year-old LF Birdie Cree to the Chicago Cubs, getting 24-year-old SP Hippo Vaughn and 24-year-old 3B Art Phelan in return.

Awards for July:
CF Tris Speaker of the Detroit Tigers wins the AL Batter of the Month Award with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 24 runs scored.
CF Ty Cobb of the Boston Braves wins the NL Batter of the Month Award with 2 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.
SP Dummy Taylor of the Chicago White Sox wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 5-1 record and a 1.17 ERA.
SP Addie Joss of the New York Giants wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 5-1 record and a 1.11 ERA.
SP Al Demaree of the St. Louis Browns wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award with a 5-2 record and a 1.98 ERA.
2B Del Pratt of the New York Giants wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs, and 13 runs scored

In the AL, the Detroit Tigers now lead the St. Louis Browns by 5 games for first place while, in the NL, the two-time champion St. Louis Cardinals are now three games ahead of the Boston Braves for first place.
