Play-in Results

NCA: Nordhagen Beach 2, Starlight 0

Game 1: Nordhagen Beach 3 at Starlight 2

Party Boys Edge Killers 3-2 to Open PiS

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys faced a tough opponent in Starlight Killers pitcher Digger Vadim, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Play-in Series, which they now lead 1-0. The Party Boys won 3-2 at Valentine Detective Agency Field, despite the Killers getting a strong start from right-hander Vadim, who went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs.

Nordhagen Beach used the timely hitting of Jonathan Abern to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Party Boys on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Abern told the Nordhagen Beach Gazette.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Valentine Detective Agency Field in Lexington.

Game 2: Nordhagen Beach 13 at Starlight 1

Party Boys Move on to Association Semifinal

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys outclassed the Starlight Killers in all facets of the game throughout the NCA Play-in Series.

The end result was a Nordhagen Beach series sweep to advance to the Association Semifinal, capped off by a 13-1 win in the final game.

"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said center fielder Maxx Murtagh, who hit .444 in the series.

Murtagh's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .500 on-base percentage and had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Party Boys jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st and never looked back in knocking the Killers out. Murtagh was 4 for 5 with a double, a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jonathan Angelou had two hits, both homers, scored twice, and knocked in four. Ugio Church pitched the complete game, allowing just one run on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.

SCA: Jamaica Plain 2, University Point 0

Game 1: Jamaica Plain 2 at University Point 1

Red Rockets Edge Deathclaws 2-1 to Open PiS
The Play-in Series got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling Jamaica Plain Red Rockets taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the host University Point Deathclaws. Jamaica Plain left-hander Tim Fusion was marvelous at Gwinnett Brewery Park. The Red Rockets now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Though he didn't earn the victory, Fusion kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Jamaica Plain offense came through. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6.

"We found a way to get it done," Fusion said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gwinnett Brewery Park in Boston.

Game 2: Jamaica Plain 9 at University Point 3

Red Rockets Win Play-in Series

It's a sweet sweep for the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets and they have won the Play-in Series. The University Point Deathclaws were not able to keep pace with the Red Rockets and dropped the series in short order, losing 9-3 in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said University Point manager Woody Lumpkin.

It's now on to the Association Semifinal for Jamaica Plain after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was second baseman Bulleye Shooterson, who was named MVP. For the series, Shooterson hit .444 with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Red Rockets blew open the game in the top of the 3rd, scoring five runs to break a 1-1 tie. Jake Doucette led off with a double off Claws' starter Wilson Beachball. Hid Matsumoto then singled, and Doucette scored from third later on a wild pitch. Shooterson singled in Matsumoto with runners on the corner, and then Carney Cornseed hit a two-run home run to make it 5-1, chasing Beachball from the game. Damani Beebe added another home run on a 14-pitch at bat against reliever Bow Rome.

Shooterson finished the game 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs, and four RBI. Mike Castillo had three hits for University Point in a losing effort. Austin Engill drove in two for the Claws.

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets will play against the Vault 81 Dwellers in the next round. Vault 81 had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.
