Trades, awards for July, and baseball standings at the start of July 1914

Trades before the trading deadline:
-The Cincinnati Reds traded 30-year-old SP Eddie Cicotte to the St. Louis Cardinals, getting 23-year-old SHS Buck Weaver in return. (Suffice it to say that none of the famous "Eight Men Out" will be banned here--Joe Jackson especially is a likely Hall of Fame inductee here.)
-The Chicago White Sox traded 23-year-old SHS Ollie O'Mara to the St. Louis Browns, getting 45-year-old RP George Cuppy in return.
-The Washington Senators traded 20-year-old RF Joe Gedeon and 24-year-old SHS Milt Reed to the St. Louis Browns, getting 31-year-old RP Sam Frock in return.
-The New York Giants traded 23-year-old Ca William Fischer to the Cincinnati Reds, getting 36-year-old 3B Harry Steinfeldt in return.
-The Cincinnati Reds traded 28-year-old SP Pete Wilson to the Washington Senators, getting 23-year-old SHS Roger Peckinpaugh and 24-year-old SHS Jimmy Esmond in return.
-The New York Giants traded 21-year-old RP Lefty Williams and 24-year-old RP Ted Goulait to the Cincinnati Reds, getting 32-year-old RP Bob Vail in return.

Awards for July:
3B Tillie Shafer of the Boston Red Sox wins the AL Batter of the Month Award.
RF Joe Jackson of the St. Louis Cardinals wins the NL Batter of the Month Award.
SP Irv Young of the Boston Red Sox wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
SP Buttons Briggs of the Brooklyn Robins wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award.
SP Ben Tincup of the Chicago White Sox wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award.
RP Red Faber of the New York Giants wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award.

In the AL, the Detroit Tigers are still in first place, a half-game ahead of the Washington Senators while, in the NL, the St. Louis Cardinals are 5 games ahead of the Boston Braves for first place.
