I don't play with it either and wonder how it differs from the posting system like with Japan. My guess is the difference is with posting both the player and team get money and the player gets a new contract whereas with purchases the player is still under contract so just the team gets money.
Thanks for the reply, It was not so much of the rules themselves but how it's used in OOTP, was not sure how they apply in the game. So if they are of no real consequence then I'll leave it alone.

I've been having fun playing around with the settings as much as seeing the results. so it's all part of enjoying the game for me so far.
