Cards news: July 25 -- Birds swap lefty relievers with Toronto
The St. Louis Cardinals have made a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, acquiring left-handed relief pitcher Joely Rodriguez in exchange for lefty reliever Matt Moore.
Rodriguez, 32, in his first season with the Jays has pitched in 31 games going 6-4 with one save and a 3.44 ERA.
Signed as an international free agent in 2009 by the Phillies, Rodriguez reached the majors in 2016 with Philadelphia.
Since then, he has pitched for Texas (2020-21), the Yankees (2021-22), Boston (2023) and Toronto.
For his career, he has pitched in 199 games, all in relief, and posted a record of 11-13 with two saves and a 4.46 ERA.
Rodriguez will be arbitration eligible after the season after making $1.7M this season.
Signed to a free-agent contract paying him $3.2 million before the start of the season, Moore has been a disappointment while in St. Louis.
He pitched in 31 games going 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA.
Moore will be a free agent at season's end.
