Association Championship Series Results

We are now down to our final two teams in the 2306 Sole Survivor Series. Here are the results from the Association Championship Series.

NCA: County Crossing 4, Sunshine Tidings 0

The County Crossing Bloodbugs will advance to their second Sole Survivor Series. Sunshine Tidings came in looking for revenge from being swept a year ago but could do no better in getting dominated by the formidable Bugs. It was a historical NCACS as the Chemists were held to just one run in four games, something we are sure will never be beat.

Game 1: Sunshine Tidings 1 at County Crossing 3

Association Championship Game 1 Victory for Eviritts and County Crossing

The County Crossing Bloodbugs powered past the visiting Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 3-1, in the opener of the Association Championship at Beantown Brewery Stadium today. County Crossing starting pitcher Gavin Eviritts threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Bloodbugs now lead the series 1-0.

Sunshine Tidings could barely put a dent in Eviritts. The right-hander tossed 93 pitches over 7 innings for the Bloodbugs, allowing only 4 hits.

"Every loss hurts," said Sunshine Tidings manager Ray Pratt. "But this was a tough one."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing.

Game 2: Sunshine Tidings 0 at County Crossing 4

County Crossing Tops Sunshine Tidings Again, 4-0

The County Crossing Bloodbugs got an exceptional performance from starter College Luckyman, who silenced the Sunshine Tidings offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the Association Championship today. The Chemists could never get a bead on the left-handed Luckyman, who threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The Bloodbugs now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Luckyman, who was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, threw 82 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing no runs.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Luckyman. "Successful pitchers do it."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 2nd , 2306 at ArcJet Systems Stadium in Sunshine Tidings.

Game 3: County Crossing 7 at Sunshine Tidings 0

Bloodbugs Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0

The County Crossing Bloodbugs got an exceptional performance from starter Whip Lashley, who silenced the Sunshine Tidings offense en route to a 7-0 shutout win in Game 3 of the Association Championship today. The Chemists could never get a bead on the left-handed Lashley, who threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball. The Bloodbugs now hold a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

In his 105-pitch effort, Lashley allowed no runs on 3 hits over 8.2 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 3.

Lashley said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at ArcJet Systems Stadium in Sunshine Tidings.

Game 4: County Crossing 7 at Sunshine Tidings 0

Bloodbugs Move on to Sole Survivor Series

The County Crossing Bloodbugs had all facets of their game going and have swept the Sunshine Tidings Chemists in the Association Championship. County Crossing now heads off to the Sole Survivor Series, after wrapping up the series with a 7-0 win.

Eviritts earned his second victory of the series, throwing eight innings of shutout ball on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts. In two games, he was 2-0 in 15.0 innings with one run, zero earned, nine hits, five walks, and 15 strikeouts.

Any Why was 3 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored. Kurt Kilgore was 2 fo4 4 with a home run, a walk, a run scored, and two RBI.

Why was named MVP, as he put up a .643 batting average, with a .688 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 5 runs.

County Crossing batted just .130 as a team in the series. Their lone run came on a passed ball by Eviritts in the 6th inning of Game 1.

The County Crossing Bloodbugs don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Vault 81 Dwellers - Roxbury Rad Sox series. Vault 81 leads the series 2 games to 1. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

SCA: Roxbury 4, Vault 81 3

It was a thrilling series that all came down to Roxbury's Nuke Laloosh against Vault 81's record-setting SP Exxie Summerset. In the end, Laloosh had more big game know-how, leading the Rad Sox to their third Sole Survivor Series appearance in the past four years.

Game 1: Roxbury 3 at Vault 81 4

Association Championship Game 1 Victory for Summerset and Vault 81

The Vault 81 Dwellers started the Association Championship in style today, downing the visiting Roxbury Rad Sox at CURIE Inc. Field by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Dwellers right-hander Exxie Summerset threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball.

Kory Richardson had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Vault 81. He came through with a 2-run double to put Vault 81 in front, 4-3.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Summerset.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 2: Roxbury 3 at Vault 81 4

Vault 81 Tops Roxbury Again, 4-3

With starter Vince McCort leading the charge, the Vault 81 Dwellers defeated the Roxbury Rad Sox, 4-3, in Game 2 of the Association Championship today. The left-hander threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball at CURIE Inc. Field to help Vault 81 take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

In the bottom of the second, Vault 81 catcher Paul Tracy had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two out, Tracy stroked a 2-run home run to right. It made the score 2-0, Vault 81. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Vault 81 manager Dan Ferreri.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, October 3rd , 2306 at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.

Game 3: Vault 81 3 at Roxbury 7

Connexx Blasts Dwellers, Rad Sox Take Game 3, 7-3

The Roxbury Rad Sox have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Vault 81 Dwellers, winning 7-3 at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury today. Rad Sox second baseman Chris Connexx was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Rad Sox to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

The Rad Sox took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Facing Vault 81 hurler Bruce Iddings with two outs, Connexx hit a grand slam home run.

"We're happy," Connexx told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.

Game 4: Vault 81 1 at Roxbury 4

Raucous Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury Crowd Propels Rad Sox to 4-1 Victory; Series Tied at 2

The Roxbury Rad Sox topped the Vault 81 Dwellers by the score of 4-1 and moved into a 2-2 tie in the Association Championship today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Roxbury starter Nuke Laloosh, who threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win.

Roxbury grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases empty, Chris Connexx delivered a solo home run, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Rad Sox.

"It was a good effort all around," said Connexx.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury.

Game 5: Vault 81 2 at Roxbury 7

Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Rad Sox, 7-2

The Roxbury Rad Sox moved to within one game of the Sole Survivor Series today, downing the visiting Vault 81 Dwellers at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury by a score of 7-2. Rad Sox shortstop Purple Gupta did some major damage. He went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Rad Sox a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Association Championship.

In the bottom of the first, Gupta had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Vince McCort that staked the Rad Sox to a 2-0 lead.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Gupta said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 7th , 2306 at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 6: Roxbury 3 at Vault 81 8

Rad Sox Hammered by Shorthop, Drop Game 6 to Dwellers

The Vault 81 Dwellers and the Roxbury Rad Sox will take the Association Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Dwellers beat the Rad Sox 8-3 at CURIE Inc. Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Vault 81 shortstop Tib Shorthop hit 2 home runs.

Joe Rathmann had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Vault 81. He came through with a 3-run home run to put Vault 81 in front, 6-1.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Rathmann, "and then get after it again."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 7: Roxbury 5 at Vault 81 1

Association Championship Goes the Distance, Roxbury Prevails

The fans in Roxbury are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Vault 81.

The Roxbury Rad Sox finished off the Vault 81 Dwellers 5-1 in the deciding game of the Association Championship played at CURIE Inc. Field. They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Sole Survivor Series.

Nuke Laloosh outdueled Exxie Summerset for the final game, winning the head-to-head battle 2-1. Laloosh allowed just one earned run on eight hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Summerset allowed five earned runs on five hits with five walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Summerset's two losses in the series were more than he had in the regular season.

For his standout play, Roxbury second baseman Chris Connexx was voted the series' Most Valuable Player. He batted .364, drove in 7 runs and scored 5 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Connexx and that doomed us," said Dwellers manager Dan Ferreri. "Hats off to Roxbury, though. That was a great series."

The Roxbury Rad Sox will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing won their series against the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 4 games to 0. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

In a surprise announcement on the day, Vault 81 owner Dr. Jacob Forsythe revealed that he was turning over ownership to long-time colleague, Dr. Rachel Montano-De Luca. Montano-De Luca will take control of the team officially on the first day of the offseason, scheduled after the completion of the Sole Survivor Series.

From a press release by Forsythe: "I'm an old man and ready to rest. I'm too old to travel, too old to practice medicine in the vault. I want fresh eyes on this team, someone whom I know can build a championship team. That's why I appointed my friend and colleague, Rachel De Luca to take control of the team. She will make the Dwellers team winners."
