The Philadelphia Phillies had high hopes for Red Ames when they selected him as the 2nd overall selection in last year's draft. Suffice it to say, Ames exceeded all expectations with a terrific regular season performance in which he posted a 22-14 record with a 1.97 ERA and 8.2 WAR. For his efforts, Ames was named the National League Rookie of the Year.
