Trades, awards for July, and baseball standings at the start of August 1905

Trades before the trading deadline:
-The Philadelphia Athletics traded 24-year-old SP Tom Fisher and 24-year-old RP Henry Thielman to the Boston Beaneaters, getting 35-year-old CL Kid Nichols in return.
-The Chicago Cubs traded 22-year-old 3B Mike McCormick to the Boston Beaneaters, getting 30-year-old SP Buttons Briggs in return.
-The St. Louis Browns traded 30-year-old SP Tully Sparks and 24-year-old SHS George McBride to the New York Highlanders, getting 31-year-old Ca Harry Bemis in return.
-The St. Louis Cardinals traded 29-year-old CL Barney Wolfe to the New York Highlanders, getting 22-year-old 3B Pep Clark in return.

Awards for July:
CF Cy Seymour of the New York Highlanders wins the AL Batter of the Month Award.
LF George Stone of the Cincinnati Reds wins the NL Batter of the Month Award.
SP George Mullin of the Boston Americans wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
SP Ed Walsh of the Boston Beaneaters wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award.
SP Joe Harris of the St. Louis Browns wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award.
SP Orval Overall of the Boston Beaneaters wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award.

In the AL, the Philadelphia Athletics are in first place by 2 games over the New York Highlanders while, in the NL, the Pittsburgh Pirates are in first place by 3 games over the New York Giants.
