MY LIFE IN 2024
EC's Life Is An Encore In '24
Despite being too hectic for me, my life is going good in '24... but I'm too busy... I plan on cutting back on several of my activities and slow the pace down to an enjoyable level.
My Islandian Pro Alliance and South Island dynasty leagues are being neglected... sorry about that... I miss them, but they are the lowest priorities in my life.
I read a very nice, warm and fuzzy, heartwarming story in Joe Posnanski's excellent book "Why We Love Baseball -- A History in 50 Moments"... it was short and sweet and easy for me to recap and post.
Remember Jackie Robinson's steal of home in the 1955 World Series... it's the most famous steal of home in baseball history... Jackie always said he was "safe"... Yogi Berra always said he was "out"... whenever Yogi passed the big photograph of the play posted in his Hall of Fame in Montclair, New Jersey, Yogi would always shout out "out"!... his family said he never failed to say it, not even once.
Yep, that's a good story.
"Wit, Quips and Quotes From the Diamond Minds"
(excepted from Posnanski's book)
But there's an even better story. Jackie Robinson died in 1972. And for the next 40-plus years, Yogi Berra would often find himself at a banquet or celebration or gathering with Jackie's widow, Rachel Robinson.
They always greeted each other the same way each time.
"Safe" Rachel would say.
"Out" Yogi would say.
And then the two would laugh and hug.
Yeah, buddy... EC loves nice stories like that.
