You're aware that the memorabilia stores in the streets near the Hall of Fame are independent businesses, right? They have no connection to the Hall itself?
They also keep no records of what baseball cards they do and do not have. One of the archivists asked me to go through their Old Judge cards - which were in a drawer in a small file cabinet, loose - in 2009. Among them was the card of Athletics catcher Whitey Gibson. To that point two copies of the card were known: one in my collection, and one in another OJ collector's collection. They had an unknown third copy. I suggested they auction it and buy a lot of common cards and they said they don't BUY things. The Gibson is still in the drawer.
