2307 Nuka Cup
We have now completed Week 2 and 4 of the 5 Round Robin series. With just one series left to play, we have four that we know are moving on to the Quarterfinals and 11 more that we know are going to begin their spring practices in earnest on Wednesday.
Group A - County Crossing
The host Bloodbugs are the first team to clinch in this regional, going 4-0 in their first four series, including a sweep of #4 Diamond City and a 2 out of 3 victory over #3 Nordhagen Beach.
The Swatters, along with #5 Bunker Hill and #6 Goodneighbor know they are out. The Hancocks are 2-2 and tied with Nordhagen Beach for 3rd, but they would lose out on all tiebreaker scenarios.
Both the Deathclaws and Party Boys are alive for the final spot. Here are scenarios for the alive teams:
County Crossing - Series vs University Point: Win and they clinch the #1 seed in the regional. Lose and they are the #2 seed.
University Point - Series vs County Crossing: Win and they clinch the #1 seed. A loss and a Nordhagen Beach loss gives the Claws the #2 seed.
Nordhagen Beach - Series vs Bunker Hill: Win and a University Point loss and the Boys clinch the #2 seed.
Our guess: County Crossing #1 and Nordhagen Beach #2.
Group B - Vault 81
No team has yet to clinch a spot in the Quarterfinals but three teams know they will not be there. #4 Fort Hagen, #5 Quincy, and #6 The Slog are all out, each having lost three series. That leaves the top three teams with #1 Vault 81 the only undefeated team in their series. Here are the scenarios.
Vault 81 - Series vs Easy Town: Win and they clinch the #1 seed. If they lose, and Oberland loses its series, the Dwellers would be the #2 seed.
Oberland - Series vs Quincy: If they win and Easy Town wins, they clinch the #1 seed. If Vault 81 wins, they clinch the #2 seed regardless due to a head-to-head loss to the Dwellers.
Easy Town - Series vs Vault 81: If they win and Oberland loses, they clinch the #1 seed. If they win and Oberland wins, they clinch the #2 seed.
Group C - Roxbury
This regional is now decided for who will move on to the Quarterfinals with just the last series left to play. Both #1 Roxbury and #2 Starlight have earned their spot. The only question will be which team is #1 and which is #2 in the Quarterfinals when they meet tomorrow.
The Killers clinched at least the #2 spot at 3-1 since they beat both #3 Jamaica Plain and #5 Atom, both at 2-2, in head-to-head matchups. The Cats and Red Rockets will play for the right to finish in 3rd place.
Group D - Sunshine Tidings
One team knows it is in and one team knows it is out in this regional, with the four other teams still alive. This is a complicated bracket, so we will also explain the tiebreaker rules for this year.
First, at 4-0, #3 Salem knows it is in and has clinched the #1 seed in the regional. #4 Egret had a miserable two weeks, winning only one game against the Witch Hats in going 0-4 in its series. That leaves #1 Sunshine Tidings, #2 Spectacle Island, #5 Nahant, and #6 FHE all at 2-2 and with a chance to advance as the #2 seed. Every team must win and some need some help to move on.
Tiebreaker Rules:
1. Two teams = head-to-head record
2. Three teams = overall record
3. Three teams = head-to-head record among tied teams
4. Run differential
5. Random draw
Sunshine Tidings - Series vs Spectacle Island: Win and FHE loses, they clinch #2. Win and Nahant and FHE wins, they win the overall record tiebreaker. If Nahant and FHE both lose, the Chemists-Reapers winner is #2.
Spectacle Island - Series vs Sunshine Tidings: Win and Nahant loses, they clinch the #2 seed. Win and Nahant and FHE wins, they win the overall record tiebreaker. If Nahant and FHE both lose, the Chemists-Reapers winner is #2.
Nahant - Series vs Salem: Win and Spectacle Island wins and FHE loses, they clinch the #2 seed.
FHE - Series vs Egret: Win and Sunshine Tidings wins and Nahant loses, they clinch the #2 seed.
