2307 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

17 March 2307

2307 Nuka Cup - Semifinals

All teams that won their regional in the Round Robin Round also went on to win the Quarterfinals Round, leaving only 1st place finishers in the Semifinals. With just nine games remaining in the 2307 Nuka Cup, Roxbury stands as the current favorite to three-peat.

University Point Deathclaws (County Crossing Regional 1) at Vault 81 Dwellers (Vault 81 Regional 1)

Vault 81 is attempting to prove that their 2306 season was not a fluke by dismantling the defending champions of the Sole Survivor Series in County Crossing. Meanwhile, the Deathclaws did what was needed to fend off an improved Oberland team that will be in the 2307 playoff hunt.

March 17: Vault 81 5, University Point 2

SP Randy Kaplan pitched eight innings of shutout ball before surrendering two in the 9th on an Austin Engill home run. Kaplan finished the game pitching the complete nine innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts. SS End Yamada finished the game 3 for 5 with a home run, a run, and three RBI. RF Joe Rathmann drove in the other two runs.

March 18: Vault 81 4, University Point 0

SP Exxie Summerset, the 2306 SCA Vim! Pitcher of the Year, showed just how dominant he can be, pitching the complete-game six-hitter. He also walked two and struck out five as the Dwellers will move on to the 2307 Nuka Cup Finals with the victory. 2B Harry Byrd was 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI.

March 19: Vault 81 3, University Point 2

The Dwellers completed the sweep, scoring two runs in the bottom of the 8th to edge the Deathclaws. With one outs and runners on first and second after singles off University Point RP John Walden, Mace Pageturner tripled in the tying and go-ahead runs. CL Chris Salazar came in for the 9th, going 1-2-3 to end the game. The Claws' SP Alex Alexson had a great game, allowing one earned run on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Vault 81 SP Bruce Iddings allowed two earned runs in 7.0 innings.

Salem Witch Hats (Sunshine Tidings Regional 1) at Roxbury Rad Sox (Roxbury Regional 1)

Roxbury is back to where it has been in all three seasons of the Round Robin alignment. The two-time Nuka Cup champions and last year's runner-up in the Sole Survivor Series, the Sox seem to have every advantage over a team that just missed the playoffs in 2306. For Salem, they had to be impressive to get this far. The Witch Hats finished better than Sunshine Tidings and Spectacle Island, two league winners in 2306, in their regionals, and then they got past another 2306 playoff team in Starlight in the Quarterfinals.

March 17: Roxbury 5, Salem 4

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th with one on and two out, Rad Sox rookie 1B Sum Downie took Hats closer Justing WIlkerson deep for a two-RBI, walk-off homer. SP Nuke Laloosh ended up giving up four runs, two earned, in 6.0 innings, while Salem SP Chase Wede allowed three earned runs in 7.0 innings. 1B Needham Tickler also went deep for the Witch Hats.

March 18: Roxbury 13, Salem 0

SP Urm Rehfeldt pitched a complete-game shutout, and Roxbury collected 16 hits in the series-clinching shutout of Salem. C Biddy Swenson was 4 for 5 with a triple, a home run, a run, and five RBI. RF Deerlord Fugivmee added four hits, including a double, and scored twice.

March 19: Roxbury 6, Salem 3, 12 inn.

The Sox got another walk-off win, this time in the bottom of the 12th for the sweep. After PH Beercan Scherer doubled to lead off the inning and RF Deerlord Fugivmee reached on a bunt single, CF Ben Pawlak hit a one-out, three-run home run to end the game. Pawlak finished 2 for 6 with a home run, a run, and four RBI. SS Jerry Goodlow had three hits for the Hats, including a double; LF Dan Erb homered.
