MLB news: Sept. 18 -- Dodgers sew up another NL West title
With an 11-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the champions of the National League West Division for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
The Dodgers lead the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks by 18.5 games with 17 games remaining in the season.
At 91-54, the Dodgers own the best record in baseball. The second-best mark belongs to the Texas Rangers at 90-56. The Atlanta Braves sit at 88-57.
This will be the 14th consecutive playoff appearance for L.A. The only season they advanced as a wild card was in 2021 when it finished a game behind the Giants.
The Dodgers last reached the World Series in the 2020 COVID season, when they defeated the Boston Red Sox.
