2307 Nuka Cup - Finals
In the battle of the race for the Railroad League in 2306, Vaullt 81 and Roxbury continue that battle in the 2307 preseason in the Nuka Cup Finals. Many knew that the Rad Sox was a powerhouse, but they were not sure of the Dwellers and their possibility of being a contender again in 2307. Roxbury is looking to win a fourth-straight Nuka Cup, while the Dwellers are looking for their first.
March 21: Vault 81 3, Roxbury 2, 16 inn.
In the top of the 16th, the Dwellers' PH Chris Parratt, drafted in the 7th round of the 2305 draft, hit a leadoff triple off Roxbury RP Adam Bias. Two batters later, 2B Harry Byrd hit an RBI sacrifice fly for the go-ahead run. Roxbury's SP Chet Arthur was the Game MVP despite the no decision. In 8.0 IP, he allowed one earned run in seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Vault 81's first two runs came in the 8th and 9th innings, respectively, on solo home runs by SS End Yamada and LF Mace Pageturner.
March 22: Roxbury 8, Vault 81 7, 12 inn.
For the second-straight game, the Rad Sox and Dwellers went to extra innings, this time with the home team coming out on top. Roxbury trailed 7-6 entering the bottom of the 12th after CF Callie Love's RBI double in the top of the 12th. With RP Dan Dozier on the mound and one out, LF Young Goodman and 1B Sum Downie had back-to-back walks. 2B Chris Connexx then doubled to tie the score. After SS Purple Gupta was walked intentionally, C Beercan Scherer drew an RBI walk to end the game. Connexx was 3 for 5 with a double, two home runs, a walk, three runs, and four RBI.
March 23: Roxbury 7, Vault 81 3, 11 inn.
Not to outdo the first two games, Game 3 went to extra innings again, this time with CF Ben Pawlak's grand slam, walk-off home run to win Roxbury its third-straight Nuka Cup. Pawlak was 2 for 5 with his grand slam, three walks, and four RBI. RP Tom Sweeney, trying to break back into the CBO team after spending all of 2306 in Everett, suffered the loss. Roxbury's Urm Rehfeldt pitched 8.0 innings, allowing three earned runs in the no-decision. Sp Exxie Summerset also allowed three earned runs in 6.0 innings.
