MML Analysis
The first two months of the season is complete, and the division races have heated up. The LL's Boggs Division leader, the Abernathy Adamantium, have the largest lead by five games. Meanwhlle, in the other LL division, the Murtagh, the Finch Farm Shamrocks and Malden Grognaks are tied with the Everett Mutant Hounds back by just one game. In the SL Williams Division, the Eastlake Aquaboys are up by three, and in the Yastrzemski Division, the Brookline Bandoliers are up by two.
MML Players of the Month
LL Hitter - Abernathy fans certainly took notice of Syd Thriftstore's performance in May.
The 19-year-old first baseman had .395 batting average, with 15 home runs, 34 RBIs, 24 runs scored and a .465 on-base percentage.
It all culminated in him being named the Legends League Batter of the Month.
This year Thriftstore is batting .374 with 64 hits, 22 home runs, 56 RBIs, 27 walks, .455 OBP and has scored 43 runs.
SL Hitter - Players often talk about having career years. May was a career month for Bobby Thesea.
The 28-year-old Needham left fielder bested all others and has been named the Stars League Batter of the Month.
He put together an eye-popping month that saw him hit .342, with 14 home runs, 27 RBIs, 23 runs scored and a .467 on-base percentage.
This season Thesea has delivered 45 hits in 147 at-bats for a .306 average with 20 home runs. He is getting on base at a .411 clip and his totals also include 43 RBIs and 35 runs scored. This year Thesea has played in 43 games.
LL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in May has been selected and the Legends League honor went to Danvers hurler, Beaux Beaux. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher.
During the month, Beaux was superb with a 1.88 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 48 innings he struck out 34 and gave up 33 hits and 14 walks.
His record for the year is 5-4 in 12 starts and Beaux has a 3.93 ERA.
SL Pitcher - When Natick bullpen ace Jason Worry came into the game, good things happened. For his impressive month of May he was named the Stars League Pitcher of the Month.
The Big Leaguers reliever had 3 saves for the month with a 5-0 record and 4.05 ERA. He made 12 relief appearances, hurled 13.1 innings, yielded 15 hits, fanned 10 and walked 3.
Up to this point in the season, Worry has made 20 relief appearances with 7 saves. Worry has also recorded a 5-2 won-lost mark with a 4.09 ERA. In 22 innings he has fanned 16.
BMU Analysis
Only one of the four leagues of the BMU is a close one at this point in the season. The MA's Downtown Boston League is led by the Plymouth Pilgrims with the Charles View Cannibals and Trinity Plaza Snipers a game back. Two other league leaders, the Brockton Irish of the Dark Hollow Pond League and the Worcester Cannons of the Glowing Sea League are up by four games. In the CA's Cambridge League, the Mystic Pines Raybathers are up by seven.
BMU Players of the Month
CA Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Jacob Tarberry set the league afire in May and took home the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award.
The Brockton third baseman posted a steady .405 batting average, 15 home runs, 33 RBIs and 30 runs.
MA Hitter - Yip Yick Ping has a lot going for him. The Charles View first baseman just broke into the majors this year and now the Massachusetts Association has just picked him as its top hitter for May.
In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .434 with 7 home runs, 30 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
CA Pitcher - The Commonwealth Association made it official today -- Doug Creep of the Brockton Irish is the Pitcher of the Month. In May he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters.
Creep made 5 starts, registered 3 wins and no losses with a solid 2.57 ERA. In 35 innings he allowed 26 hits, racked up 25 strikeouts, walked 7 and permitted teams to hit .213 against him.
MA Pitcher - Last month was a very good one for Dogma Moretooth of Trinity Plaza. So good that he has been picked as the Pitcher of the Month in the Massachusetts Association.
Moretooth throttled league hitters the entire month, completing May with an impressive 3-0 mark and a 1.71 ERA in 4 starts with 27 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.
GBRL Analysis
Most divisions are still up for grabs, with the exception of the Southeast Division where the Poseidon Energy Mongrels lead by eight games. The other division leaders are the Northeast Division's Marblehead Grenades, the Northwest Division's Corvega Flames, and the Southwest Division's Fiddler's Green T-60s (Obe).
GBRL Players of the Month
NL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Tony Two-time certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the NL Batter of the Month award for May.
The 19-year-old first baseman for the Marblehead Grenades hit .442 with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
SL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, Polite Richardson put up some good numbers in May and earned the SL Batter of the Month award.
He was one of Poseidon Energy's offensive leaders with a .442 average in 20 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 31 runs scored.
NL Pitcher - The Corvega Flamers celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Ponda Baba had been selected as May's North League Pitcher of the Month. Baba's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic.
"Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Baba said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs."
Baba tossed 39.1 innings last month, holding opponents to a .143 average while striking out 40 batters. In 5 starting assignments he came away with a 4-0 record, putting together an ERA of 0.46.
SL Pitcher - It's official!
Bucket Bill Brown of the Poseidon Energy Mongrels is the South League Pitcher of the Month. In May he dominated the league with 5 wins and no losses in 5 starts. In 41 innings of work Brown chalked up 50 strikeouts, 7 walks, a 0.00 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .140 batting average.
BYDL Analysis
The BYDL has completed its first month, so things still have a lot of chances to change. At 18-7, the Spectacle Island Specters have the league's top record. Here are all of the division leaders:

BYDL Players of the Month
NR Hitter - When Blaine Stabb stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North Region Batter of the Month award.
The young Kendall Hospital center fielder posted a .396 batting average with 11 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 34 runs. Stabb also worked pitchers for 29 walks to post a .541 on-base percentage.
SR Hitter - Turbo Blackwood made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the South Region this past month.
The Wellesley Brahmin first baseman shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award.
The 16-year-old hit .427 with 11 home runs, 36 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
NR Pitcher - Sluggo Pyne certainly found a groove in May. The Beantown starter posted 6 wins last month to easily claim the North Region Pitcher of the Month.
During the month Pyne was 6-0 with a 1.29 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 48.2 innings and had 76 strikeouts.
SR Pitcher - There's no doubt that Locksmiths starter Clubhouse Treelover earned his South Region Pitcher of the Month award. He left absolutely no room for doubt as he mowed his way through the opposition in May.
During the month Treelover was 7-0 with a 2.37 ERA. He made 7 starts, tossed 57 innings and had 78 strikeouts.
SCYL Analysis
All division leaders have similar records with one really tight division. In the Cape Cod Bay Division, the Truro Hatchlings have a one-game lead over the Provincetown Land Pirates and Chatham Lighthouse. In the Nantucket Sound Division, the Sandwich Screamers have a four-game lead. In the Seekonk River Division, the Woodlawn Red Clay also have a four-game lead. Finally, in the Narragansett Bay Division, the New Bedford Whales have a three-game advantage.
SCYL Players of the Month
CCL Hitter - At only 16 years of age, Gorgeous George Davis could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.
That would be great news for fans of the Sandwich Screamers, as May was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the Cape Cod League Batter of the Month award.
On the month he hit .360 with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
PL Hitter - Woodlawn Red Clay fans believe they've got a talented young star in Sebastian Lort.
He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .440 with 6 home runs, 33 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
The end result was the right fielder being named the Providence League Batter of the Month.
CCL Pitcher - An outstanding 6-1 record in May earned Tarzan Rogers the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Cape Cod League. When his name was penciled in to start on the Sandwich lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams.
In 57.1 innings of work, Rogers limited opposing batters to 66 base hits and a .287 batting average. He notched 73 strikeouts, issued 11 walks and had a 2.67 ERA.
PL Pitcher - Red Eagle of the Woodlawn Red Clay outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 6-0 won-lost mark and 3.08 ERA in 7 starts to get the Providence League Pitcher of the Month honors.
Eagle had a very impressive May, finishing with 57 strikeouts in 52.2 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .222 average.
