No member of the St. Louis Cardinals got off to a better start to the 2025 season than Alec Burlseon, but after suffering an elbow injury in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on May 20.
It's likely he won't take the field for them again until 2026.
Burleson, 26, suffered a broken bone in his elbow on that play. He is expected to be out for four to five months.
Although, he cooled off in May, Burleson had enjoyed a good start to the 2025 season hitting .283 with five home runs and 21 RBIs in 40 games.
Getting recalled to the major league club is first baseman Alex Binelas.
Binelas, 24, has split times between the Cardinals and AAA Memphis this season.
With the Cardinals, he has played 18 games/17 starts and hit .230 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
With Memphis, Binelas has played 22 games and hit .276 with five home runs and 14 RBIs.
