August 19-21, 2031: vs NY Yankees (3)
Game 1: 5-0 W. WP-Bradley (10-9, 7 2 0 0 1 9). HR-Hardy (21). Taj was dazzling and Hardy's 3-run homer broke the game open to give the Rays a solid win.
Game 2: 3-8 L. LP-Eldridge (6-8, 6.2 2 3 3 5 7). HR-Y.Alvarez (11). A 1-1 game into the 7th got away thanks to the bullpen as Eldridge left the bases loaded and Ogando came in to walk the next two, and then he and Ivan Armstrong combined to allow 5 more runs by the 8th.
Game 3: 4-5 L. LP-Armenta (4-4). Starter-Acosta (5.1 3 2 2 1 8). HR-Hardy (22). Once again the bullpen was the culprit as leads of 2-0 and 4-3 were squandered by the pen. Acosta departed with two on in the 6th and a 2-0 lead but Luis German coughed up a 3-run homer to the first man he faced. And after they went back ahead Armenta was awful in the 7th, giving up the winning runs.
Team record: 67-54. Fortunately the Jays also dropped 2 of 3, so the Rays stay only 1/2 game back in a division nobody seems to want to win these days. Next up: A huge 3-game series with that very same Toronto team north of the border.
MLB News: LA's Mookie Betts hit career homer #400.
