About a week before the 2027 draft I (Blues) offered Florida a player and a pick for a player. I had previously acquired Ottawa's 3rd round pick for 2027, and I proposed:

Florida would get:
Player A and Ottawa's 3rd round pick
St. Louis would get Player B

I got no answer before the draft, so I had to go ahead and conduct the 2027 draft. The next day, Florida accepted the offer, so I completed it to see what would happen. The pick automatically converted to 2028 and the trade went thru.

Problem is, I didn't have Ottawa's 3rd round pick for 2028.

I checked, and I still have my 2028 3rd rounder. Florida has Ottawa's now, and Ottawa's owner is, I assume, calling the league office.

Trade offers involving current year draft picks really HAVE to be resolved prior to the draft!
