1998 CABA Hall of Fame
The Central American Baseball Association didn’t add any players into the Hall of Fame in 1998 for the first blank ballot since 1991. RF Franco Hernandez barely missed out in his debut at 65.8%. C Hansel Morel was at 61.3% on his eighth try, which was a new best for him. The only other player above 50% was 2B Steven Bevil with 58.8% for his seventh ballot.
SP Augustus Hernandez was the lone player to fall off the ballot after ten tries. He had a 12-year career mostly with Merida, posting a 167-128 record, 3.21 ERA, 2886 innings, 3011 strikeouts, 104 ERA+, and 44.6 WAR. He was fairly firmly a Hall of Good type, peaking at 30.8% on his second ballot. Hernandez finished at 6.0%.
