That's odd.
Typically, the game generates/loads a facegen only the first time it needs to and thereafter it sits in a local cache. That's why if you swap the .fg file for a historical player, for example, it won't know it unless you proactively auto-refresh the face (en mass or just for that player via the player editor). It could be the uniforms too - anything loaded.
Nothing different this year about the fg files or how they are loaded in the game (that I am aware of, and I think I'd know as I track all that stuff).
If you created a fictional game, would there be an issue? No historical fg or uni to load? What if that fictional game included one current MLB player (with an fg file) imported into it so that you could compare one with an fg file to load versus others in the line-up that had only ficitonals?
