Fun to flick between the ChiSox-cast, where the vanilla new PbP guy is definitely a step down from Benetti, but Steve Stone is still working his dry humor, to the Detroit one, where Jason is as great as ever, but Monroe is…as ever, I guess.
Benetti notes that, despite low averages and OPSs, Martin Maldonado is "still a threat to run into one every now and then", hitting 15 HR last season on a .191 AVG/.606 OPS
Monroe somehow takes it as his cue to enthuse: "Yeah, he won't get cheated! He takes big swings!", instead of suggesting that maybe if Maldonado tried to hit the ball instead of closing his eyes and swinging real hard, he might become a steady contributor.
Sigh.
