Sole Survivor Series - Games 3, 4, and 5
Game 3: Roxbury 6, Nordhagen Beach 1
Roxbury Breaks Through for First Win in Sole Survivor Series; Now Trails 2-1
Leave it to the veteran.
The Roxbury Rad Sox got a great start from 36-year-old right-hander Chet Arthur, as Roxbury took the 6-1 win at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium over the series-leading Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. Arthur threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball and helped Roxbury close their deficit to 2 games to 1 in the best-of-7 series.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Purple Gupta was at the plate when Roxbury scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Rad Sox to go in front, 2-1.
Arthur called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop.
Game 4: Nordhagen Beach 5, Roxbury 1
Almost There: Nordhagen Beach On Cusp of Sole Survivor Series Triumph After 5-1 Win
Riding the 2-hit performance of left fielder Michael Fogcrawler, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys stopped the visiting Roxbury Rad Sox, 5-1, in Game 4 of the Sole Survivor Series today. Fogcrawler was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Party Boys, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.
In the bottom of the first, Fogcrawler had one of his most important at-bats: a 3-run home run off Nuke Laloosh that staked the Party Boys to a 3-0 lead.
Fogcrawler called the win "a collective effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop.
Game 5: Nordhagen Beach 4, Roxbury 1
Party Boys Top Rad Sox in Sole Survivor Series
The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys were good enough to get past the Roxbury Rad Sox at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium today and secure the 2nd championship in franchise history.
"When you wear Party Boys on your shirt, you're good at something," Nordhagen Beach skipper Zach Toth told the press.
The new champions capped off a great season with a 4-1 victory over the Rad Sox to win the Sole Survivor Series 4-1. The Boys' Deedee Martinson won his second game of the series, allowing just one earned run on three hits with eight strikeouts in 8.0 innings. The sole run he allowed was an 8th-inning home run by Roxbury's Biddy Swenson.
Biter Trout was 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. David "AntAgonist" Kidd pitched the 9th for the save, his fifth of the postseason and only save in the SSS.
Party Boys first baseman Bryan Assman was named MVP of the series after he went .333 with 3 home runs and 6 RBI. He added two hits and two RBI in Game 5 with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the 8th to help put the Sox away.
"It feels totally incredible," Assman said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment. Nobody wanted me for awhile after injuries wrecked my career. This feels like I can caravan off into the sunset and feel the euphoria of victory."
