Another tip for a cold starting pitcher..... if you can get 4 or 5 good innings out of him during a given start, pull him right then and there. Don't let him go through the batting order again and get hit a little bit by leaving him in a bit too long. Take those 4 good innings and get him the heck out of there. You're going to get him out of the cold streak with 4 IP, 0 ER faster than you would with 5.1 IP, 3 ER

Being an "old school" mentality guy who tries to push his starters deeper in games than the more current mindset was a big problem for me with trying to get starting pitchers out of cold slumps.... but I've learned you have to adjust the way you manage a bit when trying to use those guys.
