To break the narrative fourth wall for a second, this has come about as a result of 96 teams simply being too many in a number of regards, but mainly the competitive balance and AI ability to handle so many franchises. While we are yet to win it all, winning 120 games every year isn't as much fun as it might seem, so in the end this is above all designed to keep things interesting for yours truly, as it should be.

Hoping there are no snafus along the way but with massive structural changes like this it is almost impossible to get it 100% right.
