CBO Analysis

The 2308 season is off to an exciting start. New faces, new places, and some of the same old fallout charm. We are now through the first stretch of games, the interassociation variety. The Brotherhood League appears to be the early leader for the best league in the land, while the Railroad League has only one team over .500 (and it is NOT Roxbury). Let's take a look at the early Power Rankings:

Easy Town emerges as #1. In their first 12 games, the Assaultrons went 10-2, with their only losses coming at Atom (#13) and at Jamaica Plain (#3). Otherwise, the Trons are currently on a six-game winning streak, including a sweep of the entire RL.

Brotherhood League second place and #2 overall, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are off to the second-best start in the CBO at 9-3. While they lost their last two to Oberland (#14) and Egret (#12), the Boys started 9-1 with the only loss coming at Goodneighbor (#21) in 10 innings.

Jamaica Plain is the #3 team as one of five teams at 8-4 in the CBO. The Red Rockets split with the top two teams and lost their other three games to Nahant (#16), The Slog (#6), and Bunker Hill (#5).

Vault 81 comes in as the #4 team. They went 5-1 against the Institute League with their only hiccup against Sunshine Tidings (#18) in the first game. The Dwellers then went 3-3 against the BL with wins over County Crossing (#11), the Ghouls, and Salem (#7).

Leading the Institute League, Bunker Hill is #5. They went 4-2 against both the RL and ML with their four losses coming against the Dwellers, Roxbury (#17), Spectacle Island (#10), and Quincy (#8).

Brotherhood League

This league has started as the strongest league, going a combined 46-26 against the SCA. Both the Assautrons and Party Boys appear to be in the same battle as they were in 2307 for the top seed in the NCA with the Trons getting a slight edge in their first 12.

Easy Town will have a tough start to association play with back-to-back road series at Sunshine Tidings and Bunker Hill. Nordhagen Beach also starts on the road with trips to Lexington and the Chemists. The Party Boys have been the offensive powerhouse so far, scoring an NCA-best 85 runs (7.08/gm). Meanwhile, the Trons are the pitching masters, allowing just 34 runs (2.83/gm).

Institute League

Bunker Hill and Lexington are the only two teams above .500. The IL also features the CBO's worst current team, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, at 1-11. Overall, the IL went 30-42 against the SCA, the worst league record.

The Chemists' record is worse than their performance, so there is not much concern with them moving forward. Despite being 4th in runs scored (66) and runs allowed (53), they are a concerning 0-6 in games decided by 1 or 2 runs. If those games start going their way, Sunshine Tidings will again be vying for a top seed.

Minutemen League

At 36-36, the ML was the second-best league in association play. Jamaica Plain, Quincy, and Spectacle Island are all above .500. University Point has been underperforming so far, with Barker Cocoa (.333/1/4) being unusually pedestrian to start the season and Aesed Hayjen (.226/2/9) struggling also. The starting pitching has also been bad, currently 11th in ERA (6.95).

Railroad League

The RL started just 32-40 in interassociation play with just the Dwellers over .500. Oberland (6-6) and Roxbury (5-7) are expected to battle for the CBO's top record, but they are not off to a blistering start. Both teams should find their balance as association play begins, but they will have to find ways to beat a pretty tough ML assortment first.

The T-51s get a home slate of Jamaica Plain and Atom before traveling to Quincy and Spectacle Island next week. The Rad Sox will matchup with Goodneighbor and the Reapers before trips to the Cats and University Point to close out the month.

CBO Power Rankings

CBO Players of the Week

April 13 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing B.J. Perez was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy Sunshine Tidings Chemists left fielder hit .531 while collecting 17 hits in 32 at-bats, 1 home run and 3 RBIs.

Bulleye Shooterson is respected by most Jamaica Plain Red Rockets fans for his no-frills style of play. The 26-year-old second baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .467 average (7-for-15) with 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

April 20 - The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Jonathan Angelou of Nordhagen Beach last week. The right fielder had quite a 6-game stretch and today he was named the North Charles Association Player of the Week.

Angelou delivered 8 hits in 23 at-bats to hit .348 with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs.

This week's Player of the Week was Ben Pettinato of the Quincy Gunners.

He battered South Charles Association pitching for 14 hits in 24 at-bats, 5 home runs and 17 RBIs while hitting .583 and scoring 9 runs.
