As the title says.

I tried and tried to start a new live start game it always came back with the "Live Update Failed" message.

Then I disabled my VPN and boom, it works fine. Created several new games to make sure it wasn't a fluke and confirmed, my VPN screws up data downloads for OOTP for whatever reason.

This has also solved my other problem of extremely slow loading times in Perfect Team, where sometimes it would take minutes for the game to open packs and load player cards because it was, I assume, struggling to receive the data from OOTP servers.
