CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 25 Ross Merchantman has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Sunshine Tidings Chemists star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .394 average with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

This season Merchantman has hit at a .283 clip with 70 RBIs, 26 home runs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 83 games.

SCA Hitter - At only 23 years of age, Ken Debate could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, as July was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the South Charles Association Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .388 with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Debate on the season is batting .325 with 38 home runs. His totals include 90 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has played in 83 games.

NCA Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher this past month in the North Charles Association was Bill Sarnacki of the Starlight Killers. He really dominated league hitters, finishing July with a 5-0 won-lost mark and a 2.02 ERA.

The Killers ace made 5 starts and surrendered 27 hits in 40 innings. He struck out 21 and walked 11.

In the current season in 19 starts, Bill Sarnacki has a record of 11-5 with 92 strikeouts in 137 innings and a 3.55 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - Roxbury starter Urm Rehfeldt really put the chill on opposing teams in July and today was acclaimed the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month.

He excelled with a 3-1 mark and 1.38 ERA in 5 starts. In 39 innings, he fanned 28 and walked 10.

This year Rehfeldt has a 10-6 record with a 3.37 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Family Sam Partridge is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the Lexington hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .308 average with 20 hits, 3 home runs and 12 RBIs.

In this current campaign Partridge is hitting at a .327 clip with 17 home runs and 47 RBIs.

SCA Rookie - Sebastian Lort's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young FHE right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .294 with 4 doubles, no triples and 1 home run. Lort also scored 9 times and drove in 9 runs.

In his season totals Lort has 7 home runs and a .254 batting average.

MML Analysis

Teams have played 81 of the season's 108 games now. The Abernathy Adamantium (BH) still have the best shot to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the season, now up 13 games in the Wade Boggs Division. Other division leaders are Everett (V81) of the Murtagh Division, Providence (Sal) in the Williams Division, and Warwick (Star) in the Yastrzemski Division.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Danny Honeycutt received the Legends League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," Lynn's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Danny's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Honeycutt put up a .412 batting average, 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 24 times in July.

Currently Honeycutt is batting .290 with 29 home runs, 75 RBIs and 50 runs scored.

SL Hitter - Kyle Angst feasted on Stars League pitching in July and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award.

The Castle second baseman rapped out a .370 batting average while collecting 30 hits, 13 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

This year Angst is hitting .306 with 90 hits, 33 home runs, 64 RBIs and has scored 67 runs.

LL Pitcher - Which Legends League hurler dominated in the month of July?
According to the voters who decide the Legends League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Jared Zaccone of the Finch Farm Shamrocks.

He put together a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 2.43 in 5 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 25 in 40.2 innings.

For the year Zaccone has a 8-9 record with a 3.62 ERA in 19 starts.

SL Pitcher - In the SL spotlight today is Person Mabty of the Cannons. The bullpen ace was acclaimed the #1 pitcher in the Stars League for July.

The Worcester Cannons reliever had no saves for the month with a 5-0 record and 2.25 ERA. He made 2 relief appearances, hurled 40 innings, yielded 35 hits, fanned 32 and walked 9.

To date this year, he has registered no saves, 11 wins and no losses with a 3.10 ERA. Mabty has made 12 relief appearances, worked a total of 87 innings and surrendered 78 hits. He has fanned 67, issued 31 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .246 batting average.
