Don't uncheck anything from that "Other Options" list that begins with "Use FaceGen for person pictures", the default settings should result in your player photos being used. If it's using them for a while and then replacing them with a facegen picture, have you noticed any specific circumstances where that's happening, e.g. after a player is traded or otherwise moves teams? I think we had an issue at one point where the player card pictures (which necessarily use facegen) were overriding the image used in other places, but as far as I remember that was fixed.
