The Cubs are doing a surprisingly-decent job of hanging around .500, but they also need bullpen help. They've turned to Mike Thompson…not either of the big league Mikes Thompson, but their recent draft pick, Michael Edward Thompson.
Mike had a good half-season when promoted to AA Midland in 1981 (6-1, 3.60) but struggled the next season and was dumped. To be fair, that blazing
2.5 K/9 ratio in 1981 didn't buy him a lot of loyalty.
Still, anybody from the baseball powerhouse of Fairleigh Dickinson gets my support.
