RASCALS AND SKIPPERS GRAB IPA FINAL 4 OPENERS
Current IPA Pro Cup champion White River and Crystal Lake are off-and-running in the IPA Final 4 openers. In the Tycobbian Union title series, the Rascals got strong pitching from 38-year-old Shorty Meaux (2-0/3.60 ERA) and bested the Rolling Hills Racers 5-3 on the road. White River rapped 12 hits and were led by James Lundin and Viggo Frandzen with 3 hits apiece and J.R. North with 2-4 and 3 runs batted in. Skeets Kazlauskas (2-1/2.25 ERA) lost it, shelled for 5 runs in 7 innings.
In the Ruthlandian Union Final 4 opening game Crystal Lake's Lloyd Mason (2-0/2.60 ERA) won a pitcher's duel with Fort Benton's Luis Trevino (0-2/4.30 ERA), nudging him 2-1. Both of them spun complete games. Gino Lorenzetti's solo homer in the 5th was the difference.
