Game 7: St. Louis Browns vs. Boston Americans

The Americans jumped out to an early lead but a combination of sloppy defense and bad-breaks resulted in another loss for the home team. Here, the St. Louis Browns (5-2) topped Boston (2-5) by an 8 to 3 score, as the losing streak now sits at 5 games. With the loss, the Americans sit in last place in the American League standings.

Picking up the win for the visiting Browns was Weldon Henley (2-0) who allowed 3 earned runs on 10 hits, 3 walks, and 1 wild pitch; Game Score 53. Jesse Tannehill (0-2) was tagged with the loss after serving up 8 runs (6 earned) on 12 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit batsman in 8 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 34. Gus Thompson struck out the 1 batter he faced in his 1/3 of relief pitching.

With a combined 22 hits and 6 walks, there was no shortage of fine offensive performance. For the visitors, George Magoon (2 for 4, Double, 3 RBIs), Patsy Donovan (2 for 5, 2 Runs, RBI), and Weldon Henley (1 for 2, Double, Run, 2 Sacrifice Bunts) played well. For the Americans, Bill Lange (3 for 5, Triple, Run, 3 Stolen Bases), Danny Shay (2 for 4,Run, Stolen Base), and Frank Chance (1 for 4, Triple, Run, RBI, Walk, Stolen Base) hit the ball well.
