Game 8: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans

The Boston Americans (3-5) were finally able to treat the 6,202 hometown faithful to a win, as they topped the visiting Chicago White Sox (3-5) by an 8 to 2 score.

Picking up the win was Sam Leever (1-1), who allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4 in his 125-pitch effort; Game Score 64. Bill "Whoh Bill" Phillips (0-2) took the loss after serving up 8 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 18. Sadie McMahon covered the final 2 1/3 innings in a scoreless outing.

The offensive production for Boston was nicely distributed, as 8 of the positional players recorded a hit; led by Chick Stahl (2 for 3, Run, 2 RBIs, Walk), Bill Lange (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, RBI), and Fred Clarke (2 for 3, Double, Run, Walk). For Chicago, the bats of John Dobbs (2 for 4, Triple, Run), Hughie Jennings (2 for 3, Run), and Sherry Magee (1 for 4, 2 RBIs) contributed in the effort.
