Game 1 - Starlight 7, Nordhagen Beach 5
Road Win Lifts Starlight to 1-0 Lead in PiS
With center fielder Willy Mazehaze leading the charge, the Starlight Killers got a road win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 7-5, in Game 1 of the Play-in Series today. Mazehaze went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium to help Starlight take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Mazehaze delivered big-time for Starlight, stroking a dramatic 2-run double off David AntAgonist Kidd. The game-changing hit put the Killers on top, 7-5.
"I like our moxie," said Killers manager Austin Shuler.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop.
Game 2 - Starlight 3, Nordhagen Beach 0
Killers Win Play-in Series
With a 3-0 win to wrap up the series at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, the Starlight Killers have eliminated the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys in the Play-in Series and move on to the Association Semifinal.
Starlight controlled the series from the outset and won it in a 2-0 sweep.
Willy Mazehaze led the charge offensively for the victors, winning series MVP honors. He posted a .556 batting average, along with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"We're not done yet," the MVP said. "There is still a lot to accomplish."
The Starlight Killers will play against the Salem Witch Hats in the next round. Salem had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.

Game 1 - Spectacle Island 5, Egret 4
Home Field Advantage: Teddybear, Spectacle Island Open Play-in Series with Win
The Spectacle Island Reapers powered past the visiting Egret Ninjas, 5-4, in the opener of the Play-in Series at Drumlin Diner Park today. Spectacle Island starting pitcher Chris Teddybear threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs, to lead the charge. The Reapers now lead the series 1-0.
Waze Waiting, who finished 4th in the SCA in runs with 90 in 2301, aided the Spectacle Island cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Teddybear.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Drumlin Diner Park in Spectacle Island.
Game 2 - Spectacle Island 10, Egret 4
Reapers Heading to Association Semifinal
With a 10-4 victory at Drumlin Diner Park, the Spectacle Island Reapers have completed a sweep of the Egret Ninjas in the Play-in Series.
"On to the Association Semifinal and feeling good," said Pipewrench Mathis. "I don't think our guys expected a sweep, but we'll certainly take it and rest up a bit."
For the series, Mathis hit .500 and won series MVP honors. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Spectacle Island Reapers will play against the Oberland T-51s in the next round. Oberland had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.
