With 21 games left, this season is certainly a write-off, but I would like to play better to wrap up the year.

Today the Padres are pitching Tim Belcher (10-10, 4.00).

The Giants have John Burkett (11-12, 4.02)

I am hitting lead-off, which is nice.

The Pads struck on 1st as Tony Gwynn crossed in the top of the 1st on a Rob Lukachyk single.
Then he scored on an Eric Young single.

Padres lead 2-0

I led off the bottom of the 1st by blooping Belcher's first pitch into right for a single.
Then I went to 2nd on a Ruben Sierra single.
With two out, Tim Naehring walked, to load the bases.
But we could not score.

I took care of an Armando Verdugo grounder for the 1st out in the 2nd.

I came up in the bottom f the 2nd with two out and Craig Grebeck on 2nd. I hit one to shallow left but Darrell Sherman managed to catch it.

We got on the board in the 3rd when Ruben led off with a triple and then scored on an Alvin Davis sac fly.

Padres lead 2-1

I came up in the 4th with one out and Craig on 1st. I grounded out to Round at 2nd, but advanced Craig.
Ruben followed with a hame run, to give us the lead.

Giants lead 3-2

I next came up in the 6th with two out and Alan Cockrell on 2nd. I grounded out to Ramon Caraballo at short.

In the 7th it was Alvin he smacked a two run dinger!

Giants lead 5-2

With two on and two out in the 7th, Matt brought in Bobby Thigpen, with Max Venable also replacing Ryan Klesko in a double switch.

Bobby got the out. He then got all three guys he faced in the 9th to nail down the win for us.

I went 1 for 4 with a single.

I was little annoyed that Ruben was pulled after going 3 for 3 for defense. Matt should have let him try for the double so he could say he hit for the cycle.
