LL Hitter - The future looks extremely bright for Scott Back. At the age of 22, many players are still trying to find their way in Massachusetts Minor League.
Back has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Legends League Hitter of the Year Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .360 this year, that's for sure," the first baseman said.
The Burlington Ferals star also put up a .456 on-base percentage this year, with 133 hits, 19 doubles, no triples, 41 home runs, 108 RBIs and 90 runs scored.
He received 19 first place votes out of a possible 24. Rocket Pollack of the Medford Medics finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Syd Thriftstore of the Watertown Armorers finished third.

SL Hitter - Grant Hollis took Massachusetts Minor League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 24.
For his spectacular campaign, the Providence Warlocks star has been named the 2308 Stars League Hitter of the Year Award recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the left fielder.
On the season he compiled a .355 batting average to go with a .453 on-base percentage. The native of Agawam, Massachusetts also added 12 doubles, 1 triple, 35 home runs, 77 RBIs and 76 runs scored.
He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 24. Kyle Angst of the Castle Strength finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Coup Hertwig of the Warwick Mirelurks finished third.

LL Pitcher - This past season Exec Horton put on quite a show in the Legends League. In 26 starts he posted a 14-5 record for Lynn to capture the 2308 Pitcher of the Year Award.
In 26 starts and 193 innings, Horton yielded 185 hits, holding the opposition to a .256 average. He chalked up 145 strikeouts and posted a 3.12 ERA.

CA Hitter - The manager of the Mystic Pines Raybathers said he thinks Nate Ransom is only going to get better as he gets older.
He may only be 21, but it will be hard to top the center fielder's 2308 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Commonwealth Association Medford Memorial Hitter Award.
His winning campaign featured a .322 batting average and a .423 on-base percentage this year. In 88 games he piled up 112 hits, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 32 home runs, 74 RBIs and 92 runs scored.

The Raybathers hurler posted a 2.89 ERA in 16 starts with 125 strikeouts and 34 walks in 121.1 innings. Leroyson limited opposing teams to a .239 batting average.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 26-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Commonwealth Association Slocum's Joe Reliever Award for 2308.
The North Attleborough, Massachusetts native won the award with no saves in 37 relief appearances, 74 strikeouts in 52 innings and a record of 4-0 to go with his 1.21 ERA.
He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mike Sernandez of the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters finished second in voting, while Pollox Troye of the Brockton Irish finished third.

SL Hitter - It was a season to remember for Rip Risk, and one for his opposing pitchers to forget. The third baseman for Park Street has claimed the 2308 Future Player of the Year Award with a .392 batting average.
Risk rang up 123 hits, 30 doubles, 1 triple, 22 home runs, 66 RBIs and 89 runs scored. He also posted a .531 on-base percentage in his award-winning season.

NL Pitcher - What does it take to win the Young Gun Award?
Just ask Old Glory Radcliffe of the Revere Beach Shoremen -- the latest North League Young Gun Award winner.
"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Young Gun Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."
The Shoremen pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 13 games and losing only 3. In 17 starts, Radcliffe registered a 1.57 ERA and limited other clubs to a .190 batting average. He fanned 118 in 143 innings and issued 33 walks.
He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mister Burns of the Parsons Asylum Greasers finished second in voting, while Chris Brahmin of the Breakheart Banks Behemoths finished third.

This season Gatekeeper starred with a 11-5 record. In 21 starts he gave up 121 base hits and struck out 168 in 150.1 innings with a 2.69 ERA.
He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 24. Pokey Chatman of the Park Street AntAgonizers finished second in voting with 9 first place votes, while Bucket Bill Brown of the Poseidon Energy Mongrels finished third.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up no saves in 27 relief appearances and 42 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. He had a record of 3-0 to go with his 1.64 ERA.

Pitcher - Alley Cat Preciado finished off a fine season by taking home the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Top Collegiate Pitcher Award today.
The CIT hurler went 15-3 on the year, posting a 3.09 ERA. Preciado also tallied 97 strikeouts in 128.1 innings and allowed opposing batters to hit only .267 against him.
He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Antonio Muthukaruppan of the Northeastern Huskies finished second in voting, while Cecil Rosa of the Northeastern Huskies finished third.

Reliever - Patience Evergreen was a calming influence out of the Northeastern Huskies bullpen this season.
His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 21-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Top Collegiate Reliever Award for 2308.
The Barnstable Town, Massachusetts native won the award with 15 saves in 32 relief appearances, 50 strikeouts in 40.1 innings and a record of 6-1 to go with his 1.56 ERA.

NR Hitter - Natick Inhousing took Boston Youth Development League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 15.
For his spectacular campaign, the Concord-Lexington Minuteboys star has been named the 2308 North Region Most Valuable Player Award recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the center fielder.
On the season he compiled a .413 batting average to go with a .483 on-base percentage. The native of Natick, Massachusetts also added 18 doubles, 1 triple, 23 home runs, 69 RBIs and 63 runs scored.

At the age of 15, the Spectacle Island left fielder has been named the winner of the South Region Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .388 batting average and a .464 on-base percentage this year. In 75 games he piled up 99 hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 32 home runs, 91 RBIs and 84 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

This year's Pitcher of the Year Award winner stood out by running up an impressive 8-2 record, holding opposing hitters to a .241 batting average and posting a 3.13 ERA. The 15-year-old hurler tossed 118 innings, gave up 107 hits, fanned 140 and issued 32 walks.

NR Reliever - At the age of 16, Clutch Hand Morello says he still has a lot to learn about life in Boston Youth Development League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the CIT Academy Yahoos reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2308 North Region Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the
Hartford, Connecticut native said.
For the season, Morello had 22 saves in 31 relief appearances, which totaled 31.2. He fanned 56 betters, while walking 10 and put up a record of 3-1 to go with his 1.14 ERA.

It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2308 was good enough to win the catcher the Cape Cod League Most Valuable Player Award.

CCL Pitcher - It was a glorious year for Tarzan Rogers of the Sandwich Screamers.
He finished the season with 12 victories and only 1 loss, with an impressive 1.92 ERA. The talented Screamers pitcher started 19 games and struck out 158 batters in 135.2 innings and won the Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Year Award.
"It means a lot," Rogers said. "I hadn't really had a chance to sit down and think about it yet. It feels good right now. I can't really put it into words, but I'm sure later on tonight when I have a chance to sit down with my family and think about it, I'll have some words for it. But right now, I'm just happy that it happened this year."
