Sole Survivor Series Game 1 Victory for Tonelli and Bunker Hill
Starter Jason Tonelli was sensational for the Bunker Hill 75ers in his team's 8-0 triumph over the Oberland T-51s in Game 1 of the Sole Survivor Series today. Tonelli pitched well, but Bunker Hill picked up the win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Tonelli allowed no runs over 7 innings. He also racked up 6 strikeouts.
Tonelli attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium in Boston.
Game 2: Bunker Hill 7, Oberland 2
Bunker Hill Tops Oberland Again, 7-2
The Bunker Hill 75ers got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Cartrette, who stymied the Oberland offense en route to a 7-2 blowout win in Game 2 of the Sole Survivor Series today. The T-51s could never get a bead on the left-handed Cartrette, who threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The 75ers now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Cartrette was in the zone all game. He frustrated Oberland hitters while giving the 75ers 7 innings of quality work. Cartrette threw 95 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 4 punchouts.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Cartrette.
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Oberland Stadium in Oberland.
