Oberland Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
The Oberland T-51s topped the Bunker Hill 75ers, 4-2 in Game 3 of the Sole Survivor Series today. Most impressive was left-hander Trolley Dodge, who threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts Oberland's deficit in the series to 2-1.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Chris Fencebuster came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Bunker Hill pitcher Rafe Sauce, he hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Oberland on top, 4-2.
Fencebuster said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Oberland Stadium in Oberland.
Game 4: Oberland 9, Bunker Hill 5
T-51s Even With 75ers After Home Win
In a crucial game, the Oberland T-51s put on their best show, beating the Bunker Hill 75ers by a final score of 9-5 today. Donny Kowalski went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Oberland and Bunker Hill are now tied at 2 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
With one out in the bottom of the third, Chase Doctorman barreled up a curveball from Jason Tonelli. The result was a grand slam home run, putting the T-51s in front, 4-2.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Doctorman.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Oberland Stadium in Oberland.
Game 5: Oberland 6, Bunker Hill 0
Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host T-51s, 6-0
In a pivotal Game 5, the Oberland T-51s were hoping for a big game from starter Mesquite Williams. They got one.
The right-hander shut out the Bunker Hill 75ers, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 6-0 victory. The T-51s took the 6-0 win over the Bunker Hill 75ers to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Williams allowed no runs on 5 hits over 9 innings for the T-51s. He walked 2 and struck out 9.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Williams.
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 20th , 2308 at Battle of Bunker Hill Memorial Stadium in Boston.
