Game 10: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans
An exciting 2 to 1 extra-innings win by the Boston Americans (5-5) over the visiting Chicago White Sox (3-7). Much to the delight of the 5,567 fans, the victory moves the Americans back to the .500% win mark and places them in 4th place in the American League standings.
Both pitchers performed very well today, with Johnny Lush (2-1) picking up the victory as he allowed just 1 earned run on 3 hits, 1 walk, and 2 wild pitches in 10 innings of play; Game Score 90. Despite taking the loss, Fred Glade (0-3) pitched a strong game; allowing 2 earned runs on 12 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman in 9 2/3 innings in which he tossed 151 pitches; Game Score 58.
The Americans were led at the plate by Chick Stahl (2 for 5, Triple, Run), Bill Lange (2 for 5, Double), Fred Clarke (2 for 5, Run), and Sport McAllister (1 for 1, Double, game-winning RBI). The White Sox limited offense was generated by Mike Grady (1 for 4, Run) and Lew Ritter (1 for 3).
